The Eye-Scan Reader reading machine allows the user to scan text and hear it read back to them. It's easy to learn with a minimum learning curve and offers the industry's highest level of accuracy along with outstanding sound quality.
The user simply places the printed document on the flatbed scanner, and Eye-Scan takes approx. 10-12 seconds to capture and begin reading it. Voice volume is adjustable using a control wheel on the base of the unit.
The Eye-Scan can accommodate document sizes up to a maximum of 8.5" x 11" (standard copy-size paper) and captures/reads one page at a time. It's a great tool for the blind and those with low vision to use to read bills and other mail, magazines and a variety of other printed material.
The included Keypad was designed to make operating the Eye-Scan easy. It features large tactile buttons that allow the user to: START scanning/capturing a document; PAUSE and later resume reading (ex. when the phone rings); MODE - Adjust to reading a document in column and or tabular (i.e.letter vs. phone bill). A combination of buttons also allows for speaking voice preference (male or female) and reading speed (slower or faster). The keypad plugs into the unit via a USB port, so it does not require batteries.
